Division Information

Cohoes Little League offers 5 different divisions for children in the area: T-Ball, Pony, Farm, Minors and Majors.

Division Descriptions:

Little Ballers Program (No evaluations and No Playoffs)
Our Little Ballers programs are for children ages 4-6 and are two divisions - T-Ball & Pony. The beginning of the season starts out with 4 one hour sessions where players will be grouped with their teams and guided through several stations to learn baseball fundamentals in fun and age-appropriate ways as well as get to know their coaches and teammates. After those sessions, regularly scheduled games follow for the remainder of the season. There are approximately 10 games at these levels, one on a Saturday and one on a week day. Rainouts and makeups do affect the schedule.

T-Ball: 4-5 yo (First years) - hitting off the tee, beginner level, teaching basics; players are rotated in positions; smaller team sizes.
Pony: 5-6 yo - expansion of t-ball level; coach underhand pitch; players are rotated in positions; smaller team sizes.
Farm 7-8 yo - already know the basics, being able to field grounders and throw to 1st base; players are rotated in positions; player/coach pitch from rubber; this division focuses on developing pitchers; no evaluations; no playoffs. (8 yo must attend evaluations to be considered for Minors placement)

Competitive Divisions: (Evaluations and Playoffs)
Minors: 8-11 yo - player pitch only, stealing bases, situational awareness, basics are typically known; if you sign up for Minors, you must attend evaluations.
Majors: 10-12 yo - player pitch only, a step above Minors; 10's, 11's and 12's must attend evaluations to be placed.

* These age groups are the typical age ranges, but it is also based on skill. Players are placed based on their performance in the skills assessment, not necessarily where the parents choose.
